Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-07-07
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") explain the rules for using Hardware Math (the "Site"), an independent website offering free PC-hardware calculators — including PSU wattage sizing, monitor PPI and viewing-distance, and GPU power-connector checks — along with educational guides. We've written them in plain English and tried to keep them fair and readable rather than heavy-handed.
Hardware Math is a fully static website: it runs entirely in your browser, with no server-side code, no user accounts, and no database. Please read these Terms before using the Site. If anything here is unclear, that's on us — reach out and we'll try to explain.
Effective date: 2026-07-07.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using Hardware Math, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the Site. Your continued use after any update to these Terms means you accept the current version.
There is no account to create and nothing to sign. Using the Site is your acceptance — that's the whole arrangement.
2. Permission to use the Site
You may use the calculators, guides, and other content on the Site for your own personal, informational, and non-commercial purposes — for example, to plan a PC build, size a power supply, or compare monitor options. That's exactly what the Site is here for.
You're welcome to view the tools in your browser, run as many calculations as you like, and reference the guides for your own planning. This permission is a limited, revocable, non-exclusive license to use the Site as intended; it does not transfer ownership of anything to you.
3. Estimates only — not professional advice
The Site's calculator outputs are estimates for planning purposes only. They are not electrical, engineering, safety, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and they should not be treated as a substitute for it.
Before you buy, build, or make any real-world decision, verify everything against the manufacturer's official specifications and, where appropriate, consult a qualified professional. We make no guarantee of compatibility, stability, performance, or purchase outcomes. See our Disclaimer for the full details, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Hardware data on the Site is best-effort sample data, flagged as needing verification. It is not guaranteed to be complete, current, or accurate, and it may change without notice.
4. No warranties — the Site is provided "as is"
Hardware Math is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
We don't promise that the Site will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted, or that the calculations, guides, or sample data are free of mistakes. You use the Site at your own discretion and risk, and you're responsible for verifying results before relying on them.
5. Limitation of liability
The Site is a free tool offered in good faith. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, hardware damage, purchase costs, or lost savings, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Site or its content.
This is a reasonable limit for a free, informational resource. Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to the minimum permitted by applicable law.
6. Intellectual property
The Site's design, layout, written content, guides, and original SVG artwork are our intellectual property and are protected by applicable law. Please don't copy, republish, or redistribute substantial portions of them as your own, or present them as if they were produced by someone else.
Brand names, product names, logos, and trademarks — such as those of NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Amazon, Corsair, Seasonic, and Cooler Master — belong to their respective owners. We use them only to identify hardware and help you plan. Hardware Math is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these brands. No trademark ownership or endorsement is implied.
7. Acceptable use
We ask that you use the Site fairly and don't try to disrupt or misuse it. Because the Site is static and runs in your browser, there isn't much to break — but the following are still off-limits:
- Attempting to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Site or its hosting.
- Trying to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site or its infrastructure.
- Using automated tools to abuse, scrape at a disruptive scale, or degrade the Site for others.
- Introducing malware, or altering or tampering with the Site's content or code as served to other visitors.
- Using the Site for any unlawful purpose or in a way that infringes someone else's rights.
8. Privacy, cookies, and storage
Hardware Math sets no cookies at all and includes no analytics, advertising, or third-party trackers. There are no user accounts, no login, no backend server, and no database — nothing you enter is sent anywhere or stored on a server, because there is no server-side processing.
The only client-side storage the Site uses is your browser's localStorage, holding a single value: your light or dark theme preference. That value stays on your device and is never transmitted to us or anyone else. For more, see our Privacy Policy.
9. External links
The Site may link to third-party websites, such as manufacturer specification pages, for your convenience. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, or their own terms and privacy practices. Following an external link is at your own discretion, and we encourage you to review the destination site's policies.
For transparency: Hardware Math contains no affiliate links today, and we are not currently part of the Amazon Associates program or any other affiliate program. If we ever add affiliate links in the future, we will disclose that clearly on the relevant pages.
10. Changes to the tools, content, and these Terms
We may update, improve, add to, or remove tools and content, and we may revise these Terms from time to time — for example, to reflect new calculators, corrections, or clearer wording. When we change these Terms, we'll update the effective date shown at the top of this page.
We'll aim to keep changes reasonable and in the same fair spirit as the current Terms. Checking this page occasionally is the best way to stay current.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction to be specified by the site owner], without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of that jurisdiction, to the extent permitted by law.
This bracketed placeholder is intentional and must be completed by the site owner before launch. It should not be treated as a statement of any particular jurisdiction until it is filled in.
12. Contact
If you have questions about these Terms, you can reach us at [email protected]. There is no contact form on the Site, and we don't collect any information you submit through the pages themselves.
